Sanzi recommends films, shows, books, songs, games and more based on what you tell it. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Sanzi is run by Batiste Media LLC. Questions go to [email protected].

We collect user data

To run Sanzi we collect and store the information below, from you directly and from how you use Sanzi.

Your account. Your email address. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we also receive the name and email on that account. We don't receive your Google or Apple password.
Your check-ins. What you type into Sanzi, the mood you pick, and the picks and quotes we showed you. We use these to make your recommendations and to show you today's picks again.
About you. What you choose to tell us in the quick bio: your age range (so picks fit your age), your gender and whether you lean toward male or female artists, the genres you enjoy, and your language.
What you tell us about picks. Saves, ratings, folders, your My 3000, and whether a pick helped.
Your profile and social activity. Your username, profile photo, posts, photos you upload, comments, likes, messages, connections and reports. Public profiles and posts are visible to others; messages are visible only to the people in the conversation. The reason behind your picks is never shown to anyone.
Notifications. If you turn them on in the app, a push token for your device.
Purchases. If you buy a pack or a membership, our payment provider, Payhip, tells us your email, what you bought, and whether your subscription is active. We never see or store your card details.
Email updates. Only if you tick “Email me when new packs drop.” You can turn this off any time from the link at the bottom of the site.

How we use AI

Sanzi uses artificial intelligence to read your check-in and choose your three picks. When you check in, what you write and the moods you pick are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes them on our behalf to understand what you're going through, choose picks from Sanzi's own library, and notice when you may need help right away. Anthropic isn't allowed to use your check-ins to train its models. If the AI isn't available, Sanzi matches your check-in by keywords instead. AI can get things wrong, and picks are suggestions, not advice.

What we don't do

We don't sell your information or share what you type with advertisers.
We don't show other people your check-ins.
We don't use your check-ins to diagnose anything. Sanzi recommends media. It isn't therapy or medical care.

Who helps us run Sanzi

We use a small number of service providers, each only for the job described:

Supabase stores accounts and check-ins and runs our database.
Anthropic reads check-ins to choose picks and notice safety concerns (see above).
Netlify and Cloudflare host and protect the website.
Payhip handles checkout, payments and receipts.
Resend delivers the emails we send.
Google Workspace sends sign-in emails and handles email we send and receive.
Google and Apple handle sign-in, only if you choose those buttons. Apple and Expo deliver push notifications if you turn them on.
OpenStreetMap. When you open the Map in the app, your phone asks OpenStreetMap directly for nearby places. Your location never reaches Sanzi's servers.

To show artwork and where to watch, read or listen, we look up titles with services like Apple Music and Google Books. Those lookups send the title only, never anything about you.

Safety

If something you write suggests you might be thinking about suicide or self-harm, or may be in a medical emergency or other danger, Sanzi shows crisis and emergency numbers before any picks. We don't contact anyone on your behalf.

Cookies and storage

We keep you signed in using your browser's storage, and remember small things like today's picks on your device. We don't use advertising cookies on this site.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your account and check-ins while your account is open. You can delete your account and everything tied to it from Settings in the app, or by emailing [email protected] from the address you signed in with. Deleting removes your profile, check-ins, posts, comments, messages and saved picks right away, and the photos you uploaded within 48 hours. If you email us, we'll do it within 30 days. Purchase records may be kept as long as the law requires.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We'll answer within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking.

Age

Sanzi is for people 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, where it matters, tell you by email.
